Another successful home Canoe Polo Tournament at Penrith ; Sat April 1st 2017

No fools turned up on April 1st, only keen canoe polo players from around Cumbria! 11 teams in all, including 4 novice teams and 7 in the open category converged on Penrith Leisure centre for the next round of the Cumbria Canoe Polo League.

The novice league saw some great polo from up and coming players with lots of well fought matches. Penrith took the honours. There then followed a ladies game between Lakeland and Duddon, which Lakeland won convincingly, but it was great to see Duddon CC fielding 3 teams including a ladies team. Good to see enthusiasm for the sport is spreading in Cumbria.

In the open league, Penrith spread their players to foam 3 reasonably even teams, which resulted in some great, close games, but meant that Lakeland A team won overall.

The whole event was played with great friendly rivalry and thanks need to go to the organiser Paul Wilson and his team of timers, scorekeepers and referees. Looking forward to the next one, which will hopefully be outdoors at Duddon CC’s base in Barrow.
