We are overcrowded in the current Mon evening, 2 x 1-hour sessions. We want to give everyone quality time/training on the water, but want to keep the club spirit going as well.
A survey was conducted, sent to all members and posted on the facebook page.
Out of the 19 who responded, 10 preferred the 3 x 40 min sessions, 6 preferred the 3 separate 1-hour sessions, (with one on a Tues eve), and the others said to stay as we are or find another pool. Looking at the reasons people gave, we’ve decided to go with the 3 x 40 min sessions on the water on a Mon eve.
The cost will remain the same, as most people pay by standing order. You will get less time on the water, but you will still get an hours training, because we will have throwing and catching practice (or rolling practice) in the small pool, before or after your session, and the sessions will have fewer people in them and be more structured, giving better quality polo practice.
Main Pool Times:
Squad C Start at 8pm - 8:40pm
Squad B Start at 8:40pm - 9:20pm
Squad A Start at 9:20pm - 10pm
Small Pool Times:
Squad C Start at 8:20pm - 8:40pm
Squad B Start at 8:40pm - 9pm
Squad A Start at 9:00pm - 9:20pm
There will be a whiteboard with a plan of timings and drills to carry out. Coaches will lead and explain this. Hopefully, as people get used to it, it becomes quicker and less pool time is wasted.
In the small pool, this is treated as a warmup/ball throwing and catching skills session. This has made the biggest difference to our team performances and promotions, since the club started, and is therefore as important as ‘on the water’ training.
We will initially allocate people to Squads, but this may fluctuate.
