How long is a game?

Getting started · Rule 10.2

The normal format is two ten-minute periods. Competition rules allow shorter periods of at least seven minutes; teams change ends after each period.

How it works

A game should have two ten-minute periods, although the minimum is two seven-minute periods. Teams change ends after each period, and half-time should last three minutes with a one-minute minimum. Competition arrangements may use the permitted minimum periods and interval.

In a game

At half-time, check the event schedule and swap ends before play restarts.

Remember

The referee can call time-out; the clock restarts on the referee’s whistle.
